Making Moves That Count
Raising the Bar (RTB) is a nonprofit organization serving the Four Corners neighborhood of Memphis, TN through music production focused youth development programming. Founded in January 2012, our organization’s mission is to promote technical education, academic achievement, mentorship, and equip school aged children with self-efficacy and self-esteem tools to help them transcend adverse social, political, and economic circumstances. Through the successful execution of the Raising the Bar Experience, we believe our vision of students prepared to succeed in life and career is within reach, and that members of the Four Corners community can develop the skills to unlock their limitless potential.
Raising the Bar’s founder, Michael Mosby, grew up in the Four Corners neighborhood, and saw firsthand the limitless potential of the community and its residents, in contrast with the existence of limited access to opportunities and the conditions necessary for positive outcomes to manifest. Raising the Bar seeks to solve this issue by providing high-quality program to mitigate these environmental obstacles for students. Strategically designed with the community's history, culture, and industry trends in mind, Raising the Bar’s curriculum focuses heavily on music production as an in-demand industry with opportunities for limitless career potential, and creating a safe, inclusive, and mentorship focused environment.
Our organization is led by Michael Mosby, who serves as Executive Director. Michael is supported by a volunteer administrative team, made up of academic interns from surrounding universities in Memphis. The organization is governed by an active, hands on board, which volunteers its skills and expertise to ensure that the organization is run with full legal and fiduciary responsibilities in mind.
